Job Summary: Value Added Services (VAS) Technical Officer

The VAS Technical Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance for the operation, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Value Added Services (VAS). This role involves participating in the integration and development of peripheral systems, ensuring technical acceptance for the network, and developing solutions tailored to the company's priorities and project urgencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance:
    • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to achieve high Quality of Service (QoS) and minimize service outages of VAS systems.
  • Coordination:
    • Coordinate with the VAS Manager to discuss results and meet departmental needs.
  • Support Requests:
    • Support IT teams in creating and managing post-processing tools and reports.
  • Reporting:
    • Generate regular and outstanding reports about ongoing and planned activities.
  • Configuration & Integration:
    • Oversee configuration, implementation, and integration of new requirements, expansions, or installations (hardware & software).
  • Daily Operations:
    • Supervise daily operation and maintenance of VAS, identifying and troubleshooting problems, and referring unusual system/network behavior to the VAS Manager.
  • Feedback Coordination:
    • Provide feedback and coordinate for new installations (services/systems or hardware) planned for integration within the network.
  • Technical Assistance:
    • Participate in meetings with various departments (Planning, IT/Provisioning, Customer Care, Sales, and Marketing) to provide technical assistance for new service implementations.
  • Rollout Procedures:
    • Manage rollout procedures for installation, integration, or upgrades of new or existing services on the network.
  • User Administration:
    • Organize user administration in all services and systems, handling system queries and applications.
  • Customer Support:
    • Provide second-level support to Customer Care.
  • On-Call Support:
    • Provide 24/7 on-call support.
  • Training:
    • Complete all internal and external training, studying relevant network elements and technologies.
  • Procedure Compliance:
    • Ensure procedures are not breached (e.g., no destination is defined without a signed form).
  • Task Automation:
    • Propose task automation and checking procedures.
  • Integration Coordination:
    • Coordinate integration activities between CS solutions, core network, LAN, VAS, and third-party content providers.
  • Content Delivery:
    • Ensure timely delivery of content through IN/VAS solutions.
  • Hardware & Software Maintenance:
    • Manage operation and maintenance of IN/VAS nodes, ensuring timely backups of important data.
  • Incident & Problem Management:
    • Handle second-level incident management and problem management.

Job Requirements

  • Education:
    • Engineering degree (minimum 4 years) or BSc in Computer Science.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecommunications.
  • Training:
    • High technical training and awareness; participation in ongoing IT seminars.
  • Knowledge:
    • Proficient in PLSQL and UNIX shell programming.
    • Strong computer skills, especially in MS Office (Excel).
    • Understanding of business and management principles.
    • Knowledge of order management, provisioning, billing, and service level support.
    • Familiarity with Managed Service Telecom Operations Practice.
    • Understanding of IT/Telecom service operations.
    • Knowledge of Ericsson/Huawei/Apliman platforms.
  • Skills / Behavioral Qualities:
    • Team-oriented and contributes effectively to overall team effectiveness.
    • High accuracy levels and adherence to quality standards.
    • Motivated and committed, even under pressing circumstances.
