Job Summary

The Role:

WFP is seeking two Logistics Assistants in Kandahar to implement standardized logistics and supply chain processes. This role is essential for ensuring the effective delivery of goods and services across all delivery modalities.

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Provide support for logistics operations and activities, adhering to standard processes to facilitate the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

2.      Assist in the timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and designated locations.

3.      Support the management of logistics vendors, including contracting activities and performance monitoring.

4.      Address a variety of technical queries and requests for support by following standard processes and seeking guidance as necessary, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions with a strong client service focus.

5.      Contribute to the preparation, monitoring, and revision of budgets for all delivery modalities, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and corporate standards.

6.      Help monitor inventory management processes to track trends and maintain accurate inventory status from source to beneficiary.

7.      Assist in managing the quality and integrity of commodity accounting data.

8.      Support operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and planning for all delivery modalities.

9.      Process documentation for logistics operations (e.g., customs clearance, invoice verification) and take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues, escalating matters to the supervisor as needed.

10.  Collect and compile data, produce and contribute to reports (e.g., CCTI, SPRs, financial closure, physical inventory, transport performance), ensuring information accuracy in corporate systems to support informed decision-making.

11.  Liaise with internal stakeholders and a limited number of external stakeholders to facilitate efficient logistics operations management.

12.  Provide guidance to other support staff to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is desirable.

·       Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in logistics operations.

·       Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and local languages (Pashto/Dari).
