Job Description

Position: Community Mobilizer
The Community Mobilizer is responsible for engaging with community members, particularly influential figures, men, and elders, to facilitate the gathering of women and girls at Health Facilities (HFs) or Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to receive necessary health services. The role involves conducting community mobilization sessions, identifying vulnerable families for assistance, and maintaining records of distributed kits.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Community Engagement: Communicate and coordinate with community influential members and elders to gather women and girls for health services at HFs/SDPs.

·       Mobilization Sessions: Conduct regular community mobilization sessions to inform community members about services delivered in the Maternal and Child Health Centers (MCHCs).

·       Vulnerability Identification: Identify vulnerable families eligible for assistance based on established selection criteria.

·       Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of kits distributed by MCHCs.

·       Awareness Sessions: Conduct daily awareness sessions regarding health services provided in the MCHC.

·       Support Staff: Assist other MCHC staff as a co-facilitator to ensure smooth service delivery.

·       Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders at the district and community level for effective project implementation.

·       Community Visits: Regularly visit locations in the MCHC coverage area and engage with community leaders to promote MCHC services.

·       Information Dissemination: Inform village residents about MCHC services through community outreach.

·       Message Distribution: Spread key messages on health services, psychosocial services, and other relevant topics.

·       Service Follow-Up: Assist relevant staff in following up on service delivery.

·       Reporting: Provide situation analysis and progress reports to the supervisor and MCHC in-charge, including security updates and community changes.

·       Orientation Sessions: Organize orientations for community members and beneficiaries on project activities and their roles.

·       Quality Assurance: Assist project team leaders in ensuring quality implementation of project activities in the field.

·       Additional Tasks: Perform any other tasks as requested by the supervisor and MCHC in-charge.

Responsibilities on Safety and Security, Gender and Inclusion, and Safeguarding:

·       Adhere to safety and security responsibilities, ensuring a safe environment through awareness, reporting, and policy enforcement.

·       Promote gender equality and inclusion, fostering an inclusive workplace that respects diverse identities and experiences.

·       Uphold ethical standards and prevent abuse, including sexual harassment and exploitation, through adherence to CARE’s policies.


Job Requirements

·       Education: At least a baccalaureate degree; a university degree in social science or similar fields is preferable.

·       Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilization with INGOs/NGOs/Government.

·       Travel Ability: Willingness and ability to travel to remote areas and districts.

·       Community Relations: Established good relations and reputation within the target community.

·       Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively engage with community members.

·       Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
