Job Summary

The Power Plant Mechanical Specialist is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in the power plant. This role ensures the efficient operation of turbines, governors, generators, various valves, gates, motors, and auxiliary systems. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential to guarantee the stability and safety of the plant's machinery while adhering to design standards and project requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Documentation

• Read and understand technical manuals and diagrams related to power plant machinery.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work for future reference.
• Review design-related documents of the electro-mechanical systems of the power plant.
• Ensure compliance of hydro-electro mechanical designs with international standards and national guidelines.
• Issue formal approval for compliant designs and maintain records of approved designs.
• Collaborate with specialists to address technical concerns and ensure integration with civil and structural components.
• Participate in Design Visa Committee meetings and provide expert opinions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and staff.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Perform routine inspections, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance for optimal equipment operation.

Operation of Equipment

• Operate power plant equipment, including turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor and adjust control boards to regulate equipment operation.

Safety Compliance

• Adhere to safety protocols and conduct safety inspections.
• Implement corrective actions as needed.

Collaboration and Communication

• Communicate equipment issues, work progress, and safety concerns with team members and supervisors.
• Collaborate with other departments for smooth plant operation.

Ordering and Inventory Management

• Order replacement parts and maintain an inventory of essential tools and equipment.

Training and Support

• Train power plant operators and mechanics on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
• Provide technical support to ensure proper equipment handling.

Project Implementation

• Assist in the installation of new machinery and ensure compliance with technical specifications.

Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities and analyze data to identify trends.

Additional Duties

• Perform any other duties as required by management to support project completion.

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

• Seven years of experience in the relevant field.

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D/3D, SolidWorks, and other necessary mechanical software.
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics and hydraulic foundation engineering.
• Experience in reviewing and interpreting engineering submittals and design documents.
