Job Description

Promoting INTERSOS external communications principles and material towards the National Staffs. Sensitize National Staffs about potential external communications risks.
Monitor the international and national media and social media highlighting any relevant content for the humanitarian response in the country and for INTERSOS' programmes.
Implement an 'early wakening system' on national/regional issues and news.
In collaboration with Project/Programme Managers, ensure the respect of visibility guidelines and donors' compliance.
Ensure the respect of INTERSOS protection, communications, and privacy policies and guidelines.
Cover all requests come from HQ communication at the mission level.
Ensure the proper allocation and management of the communication budget at country level, in coordination with the Finance department.
Provide technical training to staff members to increase their ability of producing multimedia content material.
Establish and manage INTERSOS mission LinkedIn page, including developing and publishing posts in adherence with communication guidelines and ensure its appropriate functioning as a tool for accountability and communication with communities.
Analyze and report traffic on INTERSOS LinkedIn page.
Edit the production of internal communication tools (newsletter, etc.).

External Communications

Identify opportunities to communicate based on INTERSOS operations and context news (humanitarian, social and security updates), supporting the definition of a dissemination strategy for each identified topic.
Manage the production of multimedia materials for external communications, as well as the materials requested by donors for their internal and external communications. Is directly involved in collecting stories, aggregating data, pitching news, taking pictures, filming, and editing videos through frequent field visits to be planned accordingly to security and mission's priorities.
Support Project/Programme Managers in documenting project activities and related humanitarian issues by producing multimedia materials for external communications.
Produce written contents such as press releases, reactive lines, Q&As, op-eds, and updates on INTERSOS' activities.
Establish and maintain regular relations with international and key local media contacts (journalists, bloggers, photographers, and cameramen). Handle local media requests and contact local media proactively to introduce INTERSOS and identify opportunities and facilitate interviews with INTERSOS spokespeople.
Provide guidance on how to deal with local media at times of crisis.
Monitor local media and flag significant articles, trends, news, or reports of importance for INTERSOS or on the context to Head of Mission.
Organize events for local media (press conference, press briefing...). May act as a spokesperson for local media, particularly in local languages not spoken by members of the field coordination team. Support operational communications by providing tools and directly engaging in the production of specific materials.
Actively diffuse INTERSOS content in the country in local languages and among local media. If judged applicable, use social media (Twitter, blogs, Facebook...) to promote this content.
Supervise the production of institutional communication and visibility materials (leaflets, brochures, posters, radio spots, articles, photos, videos) according to local strategy and budget.
Help in identifying the right communications tools and adapt/translate communications materials to targeted local audiences.
Produce strategic reports on the local media landscape (key media, audience numbers, political affiliation, ownership, freedom of speech, use of social media) and regularly report on new developments. Participate in communication data collection and reporting as required.
Support the organization of media field visits in coordination with the HQ.


Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated excellence in presentation and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of contemporary communication practices, including social media strategies, digital tools, and emerging trends.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to craft compelling and relevant content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage projects efficiently and effectively.
