ABOUT THE JOB

The Paramedic refers to an educated nurse or paramedic, with a record of completion at a paramedic training course organized by DDG or DMAC. Successful conduct in the position requires a disciplined and structured approach to medical procedures and equipment, with a high level of tolerance for stress and an eye for basic hygiene. The life of a person within the Team/Section may depend on the actions of the Paramedic.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the assigned medical equipment is complete and serviceable as described in the Medical SOP and the On-Site Requirements SOP.
  • Remain alert and available at all times during Demining, Survey, BAC, and EOD activities in the field.
  • Ensure that the safety vehicle is available, capable of evacuating a lying casualty, and ready to be used as an ambulance.
  • Maintain at all times a high level of collective hygiene at the work site, within the ambulance, and the camp compound.
  • Monitor, treat, and follow up on the medical status of the deminers and other DDG staff in the field.
  • Inspect the validity of medicine, drugs, and equipment on a daily basis.
  • Report any problems or concerns related to medical coverage, assigned equipment, and medical kits in the operation area to the team member/section leader.
  • Perform MEDEVAC exercises at least once per month and re-MEDEVAC exercises when starting operations in a new location on command by the Team Leader/Section Leader.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • One year of experience in the mine action program.
  • Two years’ experience as a nurse or paramedic in a hospital or clinic.

Education/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (Certificate is attached).
  • Assistant MD doctor or Nurse certification (Certificate is attached).

Languages:

  • Pashto and Dari – fluency.
  • Basic English.
