Job Description
Position: TFU Cook
The TFU Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate meals for TFU staff and beneficiaries, including patients admitted for treatment. The cook ensures that meals are prepared under hygienic conditions and according to set meal schedules and nutritional standards.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals for TFU staff and admitted beneficiaries as per the approved menu and schedule.
- Ensure the meals meet the nutritional needs of patients, particularly malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women, and other vulnerable groups, as guided by the nutrition team.
- Always maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Wash and sanitize all cooking utensils, equipment, and the kitchen environment regularly.
- Properly store food items and supplies to avoid spoilage or contamination.
- Monitor stock levels of food items and kitchen supplies and promptly inform the supervisor of any shortages.
- Follow standard operating procedures for food preparation, including portion sizes and cooking methods.
- Dispose of food waste appropriately and in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Ensure respectful and courteous behavior toward all staff and patients.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Uphold CARE’s Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
- Must read the Safeguarding Policy and either sign the Safeguarding Code of Conduct or sign a Code of Conduct that is consistent with or references this policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct.

Job Requirements
- Education: Basic level of literacy/education and numerical skills are preferred.
- Language Skills:
- Dari and Pashto.
- Experience: Previous experience of working with/in an office/health facility/hospital of at least one year is preferred.
The holder of this position will be responsible for cooking meals for TFU staff and beneficiaries and will report directly to the TFU In-charge.
