Job Summary

The MIS Officer will lead all MIS and data collection activities at the provincial level and support the M&E in reporting and analysis to track the education project activities. The MIS Officer reports to the Provincial Education Manager.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Provincial Education Manager and technical supervision of the MIS Manager, the MIS Officer will be primarily responsible for all data entry and its quality/accuracy assurance related to the GPE project. Additionally, the MIS Officer will support provincial departments with software-related issues.
  • Support and participate in information exchange and coordination mechanisms with partners and relevant information systems/units.
  • Provide technical coordination and support for the MIS activities of the GPE project and overall WDIO activities.
  • Support technical experts on issues related to the use of MIS systems and digital data collection to meet the organization's needs.
  • Prepare and disseminate technical reports.
  • Design and develop forms and data collection tools in ODK/Kobo/Enketo.
  • Build the capacity of social organizers and related staff members on the usage of data collection and reporting tools.
  • Provide technical support and oversee the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of WDIO and CBE projects-related information from routine surveys, surveillance, and diverse contextual information sources.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze MIS reports related to the GPE & CBE project and other WDIO-related activities in the province.
  • Strong follow-up with related departments for timely data entry and sharing with the central office.
  • Conduct data quality assurance checks on a routine basis to ensure data accuracy according to project standards and norms.
  • Develop well-organized file management procedures and mechanisms.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Application, Software Engineering, or any other relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of experience from an accredited college or university; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Required Languages – Excellent Pashto and Dari reading, writing, and verbal skills; fluent in English, reading, writing, and verbal skills.

Travel

  • The position will be based in the province with frequent travel to the districts.

  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and in harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues responsibly and maturely.

WDIO is nationally based in Kabul and maintains field operations through five regional offices, with over ninety-seven staff members, located in Kabul, Bamiyan & Logar (Center-Region), Ghor & Herat (West-Region), Nangarhar, Laghman & Kunar (East-region), Takhar & Badakhshan (North-Region) and Kandahar (South-Region). WDIO maintains the departments of Program, Operation, Human Resources Finance, and Procurement. Each department operates according to the WDIO written policies and procedure manuals updated based on the context of the area where WDIO implementing projects.
