Job Description: Sales Officer


Job Summary

The Sales Officer is responsible for overseeing the sales of cargo and freight services, managing relationships with existing clients, and identifying new business opportunities. The Sales Officer must have the ability to drive revenue growth by meeting sales targets and expanding the customer base.


Duties & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sales Planning

  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue and growth targets for cargo and freight services.

2. New Sales Opportunities

  • Identify new sales opportunities in both existing and new markets.

3. Sales Cycle Management

  • Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals.

4. Client Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and partners to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

5. Client Meetings

  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to understand their needs and offer customized supply chain solutions.

6. Issue Resolution

  • Resolve client issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner.

7. Market Research

  • Research market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify new opportunities.

8. Competitive Insights

  • Provide insights to management about the competitive landscape and potential market changes.

9. Sales Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor sales performance and track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

10. Sales Reporting

  • Prepare regular sales reports for senior management, including revenue forecasts, pipeline updates, and market trends.

11. Performance Analysis

  • Analyze sales performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

12. Collaboration with Operations

  • Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth delivery service for customers.

13. Marketing Collaboration

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional materials and campaigns that support sales efforts.

14. Training and Mentoring

  • Train, mentor, and motivate junior sales staff to meet targets and improve their performance.

15. Compliance

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

16. Documentation Oversight

  • Oversee the proper documentation of contracts, proposals, and other relevant sales materials.

Sales Targets

  • Sales Target Achievement: Achieve specific monthly targets.
  • Customer Acquisition Rate: Acquire specific new contractual customers per month.
  • Client Retention Rate: Maintain a client retention rate of 75%.
  • Lead Conversion Rate: Convert 70% of qualified leads into customers.
  • Sales Pipeline Health: Ensure a pipeline of specific value monthly.
  • Gross Profit Margin: Maintain a gross profit margin of 10% for all cargo sales.
  • Customer Satisfaction & Feedback: Achieve an average customer satisfaction score of 90%.
  • Average Deal Size: Maintain an average deal size of $7,500 per transaction.
  • Sales Cycle Length: Reduce the average sales cycle to 3 days.
  • Cross-Selling and Upselling Rate: Achieve a cross-sell/upsell rate of 25% of total sales.
  • Sales Activity Metrics: Make 250 outbound sales calls and 125 client meetings per month.
