Job Description: Short-Term Course Trainer
Position Objective
University of Central Asia, Afghanistan (UCA) is an affiliate of Aga Khan Foundation, Afghanistan (AKF – Afg). The Short-Term Course Trainer is a full-time employee of SPCE-Afghanistan under the AWAKE project. He/she will report directly to the Student Service Officer and SPCE, Kabul Program Coordinator. She/he will work in harmony and close cooperation with all other personnel of SPCE—UCA.
Duties & Responsibilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting in-campus and online Entrepreneurship training through SPCE – Kabul Learning Centers, Afghanistan.
- Coordinating groups and supervising not more than 25 students.
- Responsible for the quality of training program/course modules (lessons shall be student-oriented with interactive teaching methods and modern teaching technologies).
- Training session hours in classrooms or online no more than 20-24 academic hours per week; total annual workload shall exceed 800 academic hours.
- Keeping records of participation and documentation flow both in paper and online (individual plans, examination registers, grade reports).
- Ensuring lessons are planned and delivered in a participative and interactive manner, responsive to student feedback.
- Ensuring the safety of equipment and furniture in classrooms.
- Performing extracurricular activities with students.
- Advising students on program curricula and career decisions.
- Preparing established records timely and monitoring document filling per approved nomenclature.
- Assisting in the application and registration process of Entrepreneurship Training candidates.
- Coordinating communications with the Project Coordinator and Student Service Officer.
- Ensuring safety regulations compliance in the entrepreneurship training room.
- Keeping a record of all available equipment and resources in the training room.
- Monitoring and controlling entrepreneurship program students’ progress with the SPCE Coordinator.
- Acting as tester and invigilator for the entrepreneurship program and other trainers’ subjects.
- Agreeing on the training schedule with SPCE Coordinator and Student Service Officer.
- Controlling and maintaining workable conditions for training room resources.
- Performing any other relevant tasks assigned by SPCE-UCA, Coordinator, or Student Service Officer.
- Carrying out responsibilities in a manner reflecting AKF (Afg)'s commitment to safeguarding staff, beneficiaries, and protecting children from harm.
- Reporting any suspicions or actual violations of the Safeguarding Policy and/or Child Safeguarding Policy.
Occasional Significant Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring timely reporting documentation (individual plans, transcripts, exam results, etc.).
- Developing training session materials and ensuring high attendance by addressing students’ needs.
- Observing classes quarterly.
- Performing any other relevant tasks assigned by SPCE-UCA, Coordinator, or Student Service Officer.
Job Requirements
Job Specification:
- Education: Bachelor’s in Business and Entrepreneurship or Economics with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching and training business and entrepreneurship; a Master’s in Business Entrepreneurship or Economics is preferred.
- Language Proficiency: B2 level of English with strong email communication skills.
- Creativity: Ability to engage students through various teaching and learning styles for optimal development.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in online Learning Management Systems (LMS), capable of delivering online synchronous and asynchronous sessions.
- Communication Skills: Fluent speaker, capable of communicating through different virtual platforms and maintaining a strong online presence.
Required Core Competencies:
- Capable of teaching online and in-campus.
- Familiar with MOODLE and other synchronous platforms.
- Strong pedagogical skills for both online and in-campus settings.
- Computer literacy: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and email.
