Job Description: Finance Position


Responsibilities

The incumbent shall perform under the direct supervision of the Finance Manager and work in close collaboration with the finance department. Specific responsibilities include:

Finance:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including regular cash verification, bank account and balance sheet reconciliations, monthly closing, and timely submission of financial reports to the Line Manager.
  • Record day-to-day transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets for all proposals and develop clear and concise narratives.
  • Liaise with donors on finance and budget issues as required.
  • Ensure expenses are incurred/charged to different donors/grants according to approved budgets and compliance requirements as per grant agreements and guidelines.
  • Complete monthly balance sheets and budget-monitoring reports as per project requirements.
  • Ensure allotments are received for all staff to process payrolls.
  • Provide all types of online reports to the Ministry of MoEc.
  • Prepare annual income tax returns (AZHARNAMA), Tax Exemption Letters, and TAIS.
  • Process tax clearance for GAALO with the line ministry.
  • Follow up for staff TIN and their salary taxes.
  • Maintain payroll and pay slip records.
  • Control internal and external audit reports.
  • Maintain proper filing for all projects.
  • Maintain online reporting for donors/clients.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks) and Excel.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.
  • Ability to build relationships with donors/clients and other external actors.
  • Promote teamwork and an in-depth understanding of donor requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English and Pashto/Dari.
  • Proven working experience in project financial management.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
