Job Description: Master Trainer
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Capacity Building Officer and Provincial Coordinator, SHAHKAR Organization seeks two experienced Master Trainers to support the Health Capacity Building Program (HCBP) in Herat. The Master Trainers will facilitate evidence-based interventions aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery, promoting science-based approaches to drug use prevention, and reducing the health and social burdens associated with drug use disorders.
Master Trainers must have received Training of Trainers (ToT) certifications in one or more of the following areas:
- Rational Use of Drugs (RUD)
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD)
- Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)
- Human Resources for Health (HRH)
- Fundamentals of Nursing/Midwifery
- WHO’s Package of Essential Noncommunicable Disease Interventions (PEN)
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Training
- Health Management Information System (HMIS)
- Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
- Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)
- Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
- Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
- Family Planning (FP)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Training Needs Assessment:
- Assess training needs among health staff and community members based on program goals and field realities.
- Training Delivery:
- Plan, organize, and deliver high-quality training sessions on various health topics included under the HCBP.
- Program Implementation Facilitation:
- Facilitate the implementation of the Health Capacity Building Program (HCBP) to support vulnerable health workers, families, and communities.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to program field teams in delivering health education and behavior change communication.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure quality assurance across HCBP sessions.
- Training Material Development:
- Develop training materials and update training modules based on feedback and new evidence.
- Documentation:
- Ensure proper documentation of training activities, including attendance records, session reports, and feedback forms.
- Progress Reporting:
- Produce timely and accurate progress reports on training and supervision activities.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, including health facilities and community leaders, to support program implementation.
- Promotion of Science-Based Approaches:
- Promote science-based approaches in all health promotion, drug use prevention, and treatment activities.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in delivering health training programs, focusing on capacity building.
- Familiarity with evidence-based interventions in public health, mental health, and drug use prevention.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring trainees or program beneficiaries.
Skills:
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and mentorship skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in report writing and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of the local context, particularly healthcare challenges in Herat.
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
