Job Summary
The Supporting Staff (Guard/Cleaner/Cook) will be responsible for the duties mentioned in this ToR and will report to the Admin & Finance Officer.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor all incoming visitors to determine whether they should be granted admission to the premises.
- Open the office gate as soon as you hear the cars coming and close & lock it immediately.
- Be vigilant at all times - including night shifts (guards sleeping on duty will be terminated immediately).
- Always remain on duty until a replacement has arrived.
- Make regular inspections around the office to ensure the premises are secure and look out for unusual activities.
- Ensure that the office premises, equipment, and vehicles are secure during both night and day shifts.
- Inform and maintain close contact at all times with the Provincial Admin Officer regarding the security of the Project Management office.
- Check all vehicles for explosive devices when entering the compound.
- Prohibit non-WDIO vehicles from entering the office or parking within 50 meters of the premises.
- Search all vehicles entering the WDIO Provincial office.
- Search visitors and packages entering the WDIO office.
- Check the removal/outgoing items and ensure that paper release and documentation are completed.
- Check all WDIO vehicles parked inside the office in the car parking area.
- Report any irregularities and ensure follow-up security actions are taken.
- Perform any other tasks directed by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Functional Competencies:
Knowledge/Experience:
- At least 1 year of related work experience in an office environment, preferably as Service Staff with local NGOs.
- Familiarity with using security equipment such as VHF radios.
- Familiarity with using searching equipment such as a metal detector.
- Previous experience in a similar position.
- Willingness to work shifts and long hours.
- A very good understanding of hygiene.
- Good health condition and fitness.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Reasonable knowledge of writing and reading in Dari and Pashto languages.
- Good spoken command of Dari and Pashto languages required.
- Must be extremely reliable, trustworthy, and a good team worker.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively and efficiently.
Abilities:
- Flexible in working hours.
- Physically fit for the position.

WDIO is nationally based in Kabul and maintains field operations through five regional offices, with over ninety-seven staff members, located in Kabul, Bamiyan & Logar (Center-Region), Ghor & Herat (West-Region), Nangarhar, Laghman & Kunar (East-region), Takhar & Badakhshan (North-Region) and Kandahar (South-Region). WDIO maintains the departments of Program, Operation, Human Resources Finance, and Procurement. Each department operates according to the WDIO written policies and procedure manuals updated based on the context of the area where WDIO implementing projects.
