Job Summary
The Teacher Training & Capacity Building Officer is responsible for ensuring quality education through staff development training, workshops, teachers’ coaching, and various training sessions as per the project plan, making effective module practice teaching in classes through supportive supervision and reporting. The officer will provide on-the-job assistance during CBE visits and collect school and training data. The Teacher Training & Capacity Building Officer reports to the Provincial Education Manager/Sr. Education Officer.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop the capacity of teachers.
- Provide training to GPE/CBE teachers based on training needs assessment.
- Undertake training needs assessments of CBE teachers, SMS members, and other stakeholders.
- Design training materials/manuals and conduct training in close coordination with the Provisional Education Directorate (PED) and District Education Department (DED).
- Ensure coordination with trainers regarding planning, materials development, and initiatives concerning staff and teacher training.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences organized by the education program.
- Maintain regular visits to classes, conduct observations, and provide mentoring support to teachers.
- Design and implement training follow-up mechanisms and ensure need-based support and guidance to teachers, head teachers, students, and other beneficiaries.
- Ensure Teaching Kits and other supplementary materials are properly used in the teaching and learning process.
- Ensure appropriate use of teaching and learning equipment and materials.
- Plan and conduct training and coaching as per the project work plan and prepare modules to enhance the quality of education.
- Enhance the capacity of staff and teachers by providing need-based pedagogy training/workshops.
- Observe classroom teaching-learning processes and activities, providing on-the-job training.
- Prepare an implementation plan for provincial-level targeted training.
- Evaluate training sessions and analyze training data.
- Submit accurate training, classroom observation, and other relevant reports to the provincial manager promptly.
- Ensure that classrooms are safe, secure, and equipped with necessary kits.
- Communicate to check the progress of lessons in accordance with the monthly/semiannual lesson progress plan.
- Assist teachers in planning or running classroom activities, providing model lessons if needed.
- Check daily lesson plans, classroom attendance, and lesson progress; discuss any discrepancies with the project supervisor for solutions.
- Ensure that PED/DED and the hub school receive copies of student progress sheets.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports and send them to the concerned authority for project requirements.
- Establish a safeguarding culture across all levels of the program by implementing the safeguarding policy.
- Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding to establish a safe working environment.
- Ensure team members are trained, supported, and have access to resources regarding safeguarding issues.
- Collect data on training and its impacts.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor and be accountable to senior management.
Job Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Planning, Educational Leadership & Management, Education, Social Science, Sociology, Psychology, or any other relevant field.
- At least 3 years of experience from an accredited college or university; a master's degree is preferred.
- Required Languages: Excellent Pashto and Dari reading, writing, and verbal skills; fluent in English reading, writing, and verbal skills.
- Sufficient experience in designing and delivering training.
- Experience in preparing session plans for short-term capacity-building training.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under stress to meet assignment objectives.
- Ability to establish good relations with all stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop), other multimedia software, internet, and e-mail skills.
- Strong typing skills in English and local languages.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.
- Efficiency, result-oriented, and excellent management capabilities.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent capacity development and teamwork skills, with cross-cultural and gender sensitivity.
- Respect for the confidentiality of the organization.
